Aside from the beautiful turquoise water on the pool of Kawasan, there’s this Canyoning activity just upstream Kawasan Falls. You get to jump to a lot of waterfall and the trail isn’t easy which makes it challenging and not suitable for everyone, only to those who are physically fit and has a very strong stamina to endure the trail and the excitement of jumping multiple falls.

Canyoneering in Kawasan Falls has been gaining a lot of attention from tourists, both local and international, and people who love extreme adventures alike. Canyoning in Kawasan is really fun, you get to jump to a lot of waterfalls and sadly enough the last falls which is the main falls is not open anymore to jump off due to some regulations that was placed in the area.

How to get there?

From Cebu City:

Take a taxi or any public vehicle to take you to the South Bus Terminal which is near Elizabeth Mall (E-Mall) and look for the bus that goes to Bato via Barili, make sure it is via Barili since the other bus (via Oslob) will not stop or pass Kawasan Falls at all and I recommend you take the yellow bus (Ceres bus).

Tell the conductor or the driver to drop you off in the Kawasan Canyoneering Headquarters, Matutinao Beach Resort, just across a roman catholic church. And when going back to Cebu City, just cross the street from Matutinao Beach Resort and ride a Ceres Bus back to the South Bus Terminal.

Things to remember:

  • DON’T forget to wear safety gears such as helmet, life vest and aqua shoes or any shoes that you are comfortable to wear (since the trail won’t be easy to walk with all the slippery rocks there is).
  • DON’T just jump whenever you like or feel to jump. Ask your guide’s permission first before doing anything. It’s for your own safety.
  • PACK light things and store them on a dry bag.

TRAVEL TIP: Start early to avoid the crowd since there’s a lot of tourist lately who wants to try the canyoneering in Kawasan falls. The activity will take for 3 to 4 hours and the Kawasan falls will be closing before sundown (5pm) so if you arrive at the area around 2pm and you want to do the canyoneering, well tough luck but they won’t allow it since it will be dangerous when it gets dark so make sure to start early.
